The succession issue at the KOKI Group was resolved through the majority takeover by capiton together with a co-investor, in the course of an MBO. The automotive supplier, based in Kriftel near Frankfurt, enjoyed a large share of the European market for shift system components for mechanical and semi-automatic gearboxes and for seat mechanisms. Management shortcomings and poor strategic decisions plunged the KOKI Group into crisis. The Group situation was worsened by the automotive industry crisis of 2008 to 2009. After a change in management and ultimately successful restructuring, the two business units were sold separately.
