Stefan Theis - Member of the Management-Board, Senior Partner
Stefan Theis is Senior Partner and member of capiton AG’s Investment Committee and since its foundation in 1999 its CEO. Before his appointment to the capiton board of directors in 1999, he has been the executive head of the private equity division of an Insurance Group. From 1987 until 1992, after his degree in economics at the University Münster and a trainee program at the Deutsche Bank AG, he became an a Senior Equity Analyst at DB Research with responsibility for European Consumer Goods Industry.
Dr. Andreas Kogler - Member of the Management-Board, Senior Partner
Dr. Andreas Kogler is Senior Partner and member of capiton AG’s Investment Committee. From 1995 to 1999, before his appointment to the capiton Board of Directors he was Investment Director of BB-K, capiton’s predecessor company. Prior to that, he spent several years as a manager in the holding of Preussag AG.
Christoph Spors - Partner
Christoph Spors is Partner of capiton AG. Since 1999 he was Investment Director of the predecessor company BB-K. From 1997 till 1999 Mr. Spors worked for a consultancy focussing on process logistics. During this period Mr. Spors mainly worked with automotive industry related companies on evaluating reengineering, supply chain management and controlling processes. Mr Spors is a holder of a diploma in commerce and MBA (USA).
Frank-Markus Winkler - Partner
Frank-Markus Winkler is Partner of capiton AG. Before joining capiton AG in 2001 Mr. Winkler was as a co-founder and board member of an Internet company responsible for setting up, developing and successfully selling the company. Prior to this, he was involved from 1993 in the field of auditing and corporate finance consulting for two large auditing firms. He holds a degree in economics (Diplom-Kaufmann) and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA).
Christoph Karbenk - Partner
Christoph Karbenk is Partner of capiton AG. Prior to joining capiton he worked as a senior-consultant at Roland Berger & Partner GmbH. Before he worked in a private equity entity of Deutsche Bank AG group focussing on turn-around situations. As a Managing director of two Mittelstands-Companies he successfully restructured these companies. He holds a degree in Industrial Engineering.
Manuel Hertweck - Partner
Manuel Hertweck is Partner of capiton AG. Prior to joining as Investment Director in 2006 he worked for a publicly listed merchant banking group where he actively acquired and developed private equity investments in mid market cap companies. In this role Mr. Hertweck gained significant operating experience in managing medium-size companies in several European markets. Prior to this, Mr. Hertweck spent several years in strategy consulting in London and Paris. He holds a B.A. cum laude from Hamilton College, USA.
Andreas Denkmann - Partner
Andreas Denkmann is Partner of capiton AG. Before joining capiton in 2008 Andreas Denkmann was Head of M&A/Corporate Development an subsequently Chief Commercial Officer of a publicly listed renewable energy company. Prior to this, Mr. Denkmann spent six years in various leadership positions at 3i, where he was involved in both new investments and portfolio management, and worked at an international strategy consulting company for four years. Mr. Denkmann studied in Germany an the USA and holds a MBA degree.
Dr. Markus Petersen - Senior Investment Manager
Dr. Markus Petersen joined capiton AG as Senior Investment Manager in 2007. Previously, Mr. Petersen worked as Research Associate at the "Chair of Corporate Finance and Capital Markets" at the European Business School (ebs). At the same institution Mr. Petersen graduated in 2003 with the degree "Diplom-Kaufmann". In the course of his studies and research he spent exchange semesters in San Diego, Stellenbosch, and Stockholm. In internships Mr. Petersen worked in the field of corporate finance and strategy consulting.
Alexander Kretzer - Head of Controlling, Partner
Alexander Kretzer joined capiton AG as Head of Portfolio Team/Controlling in 2008 and is one of the Partners. From 2004 to 2008 he initially worked as Manager in charge for accounting issues in connection with mergers and acquisitions, later on as head of Group Accounting he took the responsibility for the Consolidated Financial Statements at the listed Axel Springer AG. Prior to this, Mr. Kretzer had spent several years as an Auditor and as a Senior Manager in the Transaction Service Department (focus on Financial Due Diligence) at PricewaterhouseCoopers. He has extensive experience in auditing and accounting, financial analysis and supervision of companies and analysis and execution of mergers and acquisitions. Mr. Kretzer holds a diploma in Business Administration (Diplom-Kaufmann) and had worked as a certified accountant and tax adviser.
Hans Enno Prass - Senior Manager Controlling
Hans-Enno Prass is Senior Manager controlling at capiton AG. He is responsible for the controlling requirements of the portfolio investments. Before he was in charge of controlling in three large sized Midcap-Companies for more than ten years. He has a degree in economics (FU Berlin).
Gerwin Theiler - Financial Director, Partner
Gerwin Theiler is partner of capiton AG and its Chief Financial Officer with responsibility for fund administration and controlling since 2004. From 1997 to 2002 he was Chief Financial Officer of Technologieholding VC GmbH and after its acquisition by 3i Deutschland GmbH its German Fund Director. Prior to that, he was manager for audit at the law, audit an tax firm Haarmann, Hemmelrath und Partner Rechtsanwälte Wirtschaftsprüfer Steuerberater Munich. From 1991 to 1993 he worked as portfolio manager at Daimler Benz AG Stuttgart. Mr Theiler holds a diploma in applied mathematics.

Albrecht Lorenz studied landscape planning at the Technical University of Berlin specializing in environmental law. Since 2002 he is responsible for data processing and databases at capiton.

Marie Isabelle Bachor, Dipl.- Kauffrau, since 2004 analyst at capiton AG. Between 2000 and 2004 she worked as a consultant at a Private Equity Company in Germany.

Dr. Reinhard Blei
Dr. Reinhard Blei is Senior Partner and member of capiton AG’s Investment Committee. He is also the Chairman of the supervisory board of capiton AG since its foundation in 1999. As former CFO of an Insurance Group, he was in charge of a € 18 billion portfolio and since the early 1990s he has contributed towards a consistent expansion of the private equity activities of the insurance group. He was part of the spin-off of these activities into capiton AG and took part in the MBO of capiton AG. Prior to joining the insurance group he headed the securities research department of a leading German commercial bank as chief analyst.
Dr. Karl Hauptmann
Dr. Karl Hauptmann is the Vice Chairman of the supervisory board of capiton AG. He is founder and owner of the private equity firm ECM Prague with branch offices in several eastern European countries. This company invests primarily in eastern Europe. Dr. Hauptmann is a recognized eastern Europe expert and closely linked to the investment business. Prior to founding ECM he was head of European Equity Derivatives with Merrill Lynch. The capiton team appreciates his valuable east European contacts.

Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Walther Zügel, member of the supervisory board of capiton AG and former chairman of the board of LBBW. He is member of several supervisory and advisory boards such as for example chairman of the supervisory board of SHB Stuttgarter Finanz- und Beteiligungs AG, vice-chairman of the supervisory board of Berthold Leibinger GmbH and Stihl AG, member of the supervisory board of Allgaier Werke GmbH, more than 25 years at Dr.-Ing. h.c.F. Porsche AG (until 2007), Schuler AG and Stuttgarter Hofbräu Verwaltungs AG.
Dr. Wolf-Dietrich Loose
Dr. Wolf-Dietrich Loose is founding partner of the M&A consulting firm First Capital Partners GmbH in Frankfurt. Dr. Loose is a proven trade expert and held management board positions in various trade corporations, the last one as member of the management board responsible for M&As and Personnel at Metro AG in Düsseldorf. Dr. Loose was and is member in serveral supervisory and advisory boards, amogst others as chairman of the supervisory board of Real SB-Warenhaus GmbH, Babcock Borsig AG iL, Horten AG, Med-O-Card AG, Schwarz Pharma AG and iVA Valuation & Advisory AG. Dr. Loose is a member of capiton's investment committee and a member of the supervisory board of capiton AG.
